The fundamental job of a journalist is to provide verified information to the public. Throughout history journalists have been faced with opposition from various figures and groups who have tried to censor the information that is distributed to the people. Now, more than ever, it is important for journalists to break through the barriers of censorship in order to give the public truthful, unbiased information. My flag design features four white columns representing light and truth, as well as the four mediums of journalism: photo, print, broadcast and digital. The columns are placed on a dark blue background, which traditionally stands for knowledge and intellect, and are breaking through the black bars of censorship. The flag represents the idea that journalism is knowledge and knowledge is power, and cannot be contained or held back by those who wish to censor it.
